‘The perfect bedtime picture book for a young child.’
What fun to see such a wonderfully written rhyming picture book for very young children. It's not a story as such, but a way for a child to wind down with a grandparent, parent or caregiver at the end of a long day. The rhyming is excellent, as is the rhythm, and it's not too long which tired adults will be happy to see.
Basically, it's about a little monkey, and what he's getting up to - drinking from a yellow cup, looking up and finding the moon, or simply standing up so very tall. Many of the things the monkey gets up to, the child can try for him or herself, so the book is sort of interactive too. And it ends perfectly with monkey being tired at the end of a long day and snuggling up with Fred in bed.
So if you happen to be on the hunt for an ‘end of day’ book for a two, three or four-year old, I'd highly recommend Monkey See, Monkey Do. There's a wonderful simplicity to it which children will love; so much so, it could end up being a family favourite!
5 Star Rating
’A colourfully illustrated picturebook with a strong ‘anti-bullying message’.
I'm happy to recommend this book to children aged 6 – 8, particularly if they enjoy books filled with animal characters. I think they’ll enjoy rooting for Carmine and booing the nasty mice! I also suspect it will go down well with parents and schools looking for anti-bullying books which show how important it is to stand up for yourself.
